Lessons are on Wednesday nights from 6:30-9:30 on June 14, 21, 28, July 5, 19, 26, August 2, and 9. We are planning a showcase on August 12th with rehearsals on August 10th and 11th.

Cost: $60/person

In this class we are aiming to build nimble actors that are good scene partners, good communicators, and can be vulnerable and focused on the moment. Acting is a combination of strong listening, strong communicating, and connecting with your scene partners, and these are the skills we will focus on.

There will be readings from several acting books related to the topics of this weeks lesson. These readings will be provided to students.

Lessons will be focusing on the following topics:

1.     Auditions

2.     Character Building

3.     Script Analysis

4.     Relationships, Given Circumstances, and being in the moment

5.     Continuing to work moment to moment, and listening to your scene partners

6.     Communicating ideas to your actors and audience

7.     Physical Characterization

8.     Keeping the performance fresh

Please come with a monologue or scene from a play you would like to perform. We will be selecting scenes and monologues for the students to work on and apply the lessons learned to the scenes or monologues during classes. These scenes and monologues will be performed at the showcase on August 12th. We do not guarantee we will perform the scene or monologue you bring, but if the scene works for the showcase and meets our goals to stretch you as a performer then we would be happy to include it.
